More than 80,000 domestically produced toys recalled due to choking risk

Toys play a very important role in children's growth. A good toy product can not only help children kill time, but also help develop their intelligence. With the hot sales of toy products, the quality and safety of toys are also receiving more and more attention.

Recently, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of a children's projector flashlight. The recall number is 22-024. The reason for the recall is that children may disassemble the projector flashlight and touch the button battery inside, posing a risk of ingestion and choking.

The recall involves five models of kid-friendly projector flashlights that have a keychain on one end and a flashlight projector on the other that can project images from a variety of brands, including Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, The Avengers and ESPN .

The recalled children's projector flashlights are part of a Disney-branded care package that also includes a tote bag, silicone wristband, playing cards, ink pen, journal, wall stickers and a set of postcards. The flashlights contain four LR41 button batteries .

The product is manufactured in China, and Starlight Children's Foundation distributed approximately 82,500 of the care packages to hospitals and medical institutions between February and June 2021. So far, the company has received two reports of children removing button batteries from flashlights. In one case, a child required surgery to remove the button battery that was accidentally ingested.

Consumers who received the product should stop using the projector flashlight immediately and keep it away from children. They should also contact the product manufacturer Halo to return the product. After the return, Halo will compensate the consumer with a $5 gift card that can be used at major retailers nationwide.

The main consumer group of toys is children, who are too young and often lack certain judgment abilities. They are likely to swallow small parts of toys by mistake out of curiosity or other reasons, thus causing certain harm to themselves.

In the past, toys have been frequently recalled because of the risk of accidental ingestion and choking due to the detachment of small parts. Once a recall occurs, it will cause great damage to the seller's business. Therefore, sellers in the toy industry must control the quality of their products when producing them to ensure the personal and property safety of consumers.
