Amazon releases new policy and will update compliance reference tools

Yesterday, Amazon US released a new announcement, stating that it will update the Amazon Compliance Reference Tool.

Amazon said that it will launch a new tool, Compliance Reference, in the near future to help sellers manage compliance obligations and keep abreast of changing policy requirements. Due to the feedback Amazon has received from some sellers on the announcement, Amazon’s help page has also been updated to clarify the product types currently available in the Compliance Reference.

The Compliance Reference will provide information about product compliance requirements, such as import and export regulations of the country/region where the seller is shipping or selling , or whether the seller 's product is subject to product guarantee requirements, such as toys, baby products, or contains lithium batteries.

Currently , the tool does not include all products that meet compliance requirements, such as hazardous materials, chemical products, or food. However, Amazon said it will continue to add products to the tool over the next six months and notify sellers when new categories are added.

Sellers then expressed their opinions on this new tool.

Seller A: This new tool will be helpful to sellers in their sales work. It will provide sellers with a comprehensive product database to prevent mistakes such as violations of rules in the process of selling products.

Seller B: The tool does not provide all product categories that meet compliance requirements, which is a matter that Amazon needs to deal with urgently. In addition, will Amazon's robots realize that the compliance reference is currently incomplete? If Amazon's artificial intelligence makes a misjudgment in dealing with rule conflicts, we sellers will still suffer losses.

Earlier, sellers on the Amazon forum reported that their products were removed from the shelves or recalled after being sold because they did not meet the regulations. Many sellers did not sell in violation of regulations, but were not clear about the specific sales rules of each country /region. Amazon's updated compliance reference tool is designed to help sellers avoid violating the rules in sales activities, while also reducing the seller's initial workload. I believe that after the tool is improved, it will be a great help to sellers.
