Shopify Black Friday sales hit $2.9 billion

Black Friday is a great opportunity to make orders. For sellers, some are worried and some are happy, and they all show off their impressive results. Recently, Shopify announced the situation of this year's Black Friday, and its global sales reached about 2.9 billion US dollars, an increase of 21% over last year.

Specifically, as of 4 a.m. EST on Friday , total sales of Shopify sellers exceeded the $1 billion mark , four hours earlier than Black Friday 2020, with peak sales per minute reaching $3.1 million at 12:02 p.m. EST .

According to the information released by Shopify, the best-selling countries are the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, and the best-selling cities are mainly London, New York and Los Angeles. Among them, 72% of sales are generated on mobile devices and 28% from computers. Compared with 67% and 33% last year, consumers have a clear trend of mobile shopping.

In terms of product categories , clothing, accessories, health, beauty, and home gardening are hot-selling categories . The per capita consumer price reached US$101.2, higher than last year's average of US$90.7. Among them, cross-border orders accounted for 15% of the total orders, and the United States to Canada, Canada to the United States, and the United Kingdom to the United States were the most popular cross-border routes.

The president of Shopify said, "Black Friday every year is one of the highest single-day sales moments for sellers around the world. From offline to online retail, the viral spread of TikTok and the sales on Black Friday all show the increase in the influence of independent sellers. Consumer support for independent brands has reached an all-time high. "

From these data, we can see that independent websites are on an upward trend. In the early stage, the layout of multiple platforms lays a good foundation. In the later stage, if you want to achieve long-term and stable development, it is wise to layout independent websites and build brands. In addition, the current favorable situation of social e-commerce has provided convenience for sellers to create brand stories.

This year's cross-border circle can be described as a turbulent time. More and more sellers have realized the importance of multi-platform layout and have begun to turn their attention to independent sites. The road to transformation is bumpy, and sellers must be fully prepared and enter the market cautiously based on their own circumstances.
