Walmart has 10 million members

Amazon has its own FBA warehousing service, and under Walmart is WFS , which was launched in February 2020. Walmart CFO Brett Biggs said in the third-quarter earnings call that it has completed a quarter of the overall sales target. According to Marketplace Pulse estimates, FBA completes about 75% of Amazon's market sales, but Amazon's service has been in existence for more than 15 years.

Services like FBA and WFS allow shoppers to see Amazon and Walmart as retailers while hiding the real seller information behind the scenes . Marketplace invisibility has proven to be critical as it enables a consistent shopping experience.

More than 90% of the items sold on Walmart online come from the marketplace. Walmart is taking the same steps as Amazon to package its vast catalog in an experience it can control , and that's the role of WFS. As more sellers adopt WFS, fewer shoppers will notice individual sellers. This is especially important for international sellers, which Walmart began onboarding this year.

As WFS selection grows, so too does the value of the membership program , “ Walmart+ ,” which , since its launch in September 2020, has nearly 10 million members, or about a quarter of online customers.

CIRP partner and co-founder said that Walmart's membership program attracts the best customers and helps promote those loyal online customers to shop more and more frequently . "We have not yet seen whether Walmart+ membership will increase Walmart's overall growth . Since the launch of Walmart+, the overall spending and frequency of Walmart.com have not changed significantly , but Walmart+ customers spend more per visit and have a higher frequency than non-members ."

Walmart recently announced its earnings for the third quarter of fiscal 2022 , with U.S. sales up 9.2% year-over-year and 15.6% compared to the same period in 2019. There are currently about 160 million items on Walmart’s e-commerce marketplace , an increase of 21 million items from the previous quarter.

Although the review conditions are relatively strict and the scale is small, as Amazon's biggest competitor, Walmart's subsequent development cannot be underestimated.
