Amazon recalls tens of thousands of mattresses due to self-operated brands

Product recalls are not uncommon, and many of them come from Amazon. On November 18th local time , another product on Amazon was recalled, but this time it was not from a third-party seller, but from Amazon's own brand.

The recall involves a foam mattress with 10-inch and 12-inch specifications , including twin, full, queen, king, and California king sizes. The mattress is white, printed with "amazonbasics," and has a white federal label that reads "Amazon.com Services Inc." It was sold on Amazon from April 2020 to March 2021, with prices ranging from $150 to $450.

The recall was due to the fact that it did not meet federal mattress flammability standards and posed a fire hazard. About 15,300 mattresses were involved , and no injuries have been reported so far. Amazon has taken remedial measures and is now contacting all buyers and will ship new mattress covers for free, which consumers can cover on their mattresses to avoid safety hazards.

"Not meeting flammability standards" is a common reason for recalls, especially for many children's clothing. Many sellers have disputes over this standard. Although there is no such danger in many cases, since there is such a standard requirement, sellers still have to follow it honestly. Amazon, which has always paid attention to product quality, accidentally stepped on the thunder this time.

During the epidemic, e-commerce has prospered. Because many people have been staying at home for a long time, they have devoted their energy to home decoration. The home furnishing category has ushered in a wave of sales boom. Many home furnishing sellers have caught up with this wave of opportunities and have successively raised funds and listed. Many new sellers have also begun to pay attention to this category, and home furnishings have become increasingly popular.

There are endless varieties of home decorations on Amazon, and quite a few of them are hot sellers. In addition to avoiding infringement minefields, sellers must also strictly control quality to ensure that products meet standard requirements. If they are recalled, it will be a considerable loss for the sellers.
