Sales of nearly 10 billion yuan in half a year! This toy is so popular that it cannot be underestimated

Under the epidemic situation, big-name toys have achieved a sales rebound. Recently, Japanese toy giant Bandai Namco announced its half-year financial report ( April-September 2021), which showed that the group's toy business sales in the first half of the year reached 178.123 billion yen, equivalent to about 9.98 billion yuan.

Bandai Namco's toy sales in the first half of the year accounted for 45.25% of the group's total sales , a year-on-year increase of 35.9%. Its profit also reached 33.092 billion yen, or about 1.854 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 73.1%.

Bandai Namco's semiannual report showed that toy sales increased year-on-year, but sales in the electronic game sector decreased, reaching only 149.597 billion yen, 89.3% of the same period last year. Even so, it did not have much impact on Bandai Namco.

Not long ago, it was also listed on the "2021 World's Top 25 Most Valuable Toy Brands List" released by Brand Finance, a well-known British brand evaluation agency, this year. Bandai Namco ranked second only to Lego.

The outbreak has had a negative impact on sales in many industries around the world. However, from a global market perspective, the toy industry has broken through restrictions and achieved sales growth in Europe, the United States and Asia.

The U.S. toy market has maintained double-digit growth this year, and the Asian market is not far behind. As far as the Japanese market is concerned, convenient and compact toys have become the explosion point during this period.

The epidemic has forced people to stay at home for a long time and unable to go out, but it is understood that during this period, convenient and small capsule toy stations have increased in the streets of Japan. Regardless of adults or not, the audience group of capsule toys is constantly expanding, and the sales of IP toys such as "Mobile Suit Gundam" under the company have also continued to grow during this period.

Bandai Namco's financial report pointed out that going forward, it will increase the investment in initial development and promotion costs, launch new large-scale home game consoles and multiple new online games, launch topical products for the year-end and New Year shopping wars, establish multiple IPs, and plan the next seeding.
