Consumer loyalty to Amazon is increasing year by year

According to market research firm Consumer Intelligence Research Partners ( CIRP ) , 88% of Amazon consumers choose to shop directly from Amazon rather than from search engines such as Google or other retailers' websites . And this proportion has been steadily increasing for several years and has hardly been affected by the epidemic .

Survey data shows that most consumers who shop on Amazon never consider other platforms . Since 2014, market research firm CIRP has been asking Amazon shoppers whether they browsed search engines or other retailers' websites or stores before making their most recent Amazon purchase . The data shows that over the years, most people have always favored Amazon.

In the latest survey, conducted in the third quarter of this year, 88% of Amazon shoppers said they considered Amazon alone for their most recent purchase . CIRP said that percentage has risen steadily from 82% in the third quarter of 2014.

According to surveys, Amazon Prime members are more loyal to the Amazon platform. CIRP said that recent survey data showed that 91 % of consumers who have been Amazon Prime members for two years or more said they only consider Amazon when shopping , while other non-member shoppers have 85%.

CIRP estimates that there were 153 million Prime members in the U.S. at the end of the second quarter of 2021, up from 124 million a year ago. Amazon reports more than 200 million Prime members worldwide, but it does not currently disclose how many Prime members there are in the U.S.

CIRP said most Amazon customers sometimes shop at other larger retailers. When asked where they would shop if they hadn’t recently shopped at Amazon, 22% said Walmart , followed by Target, eBay and Best Buy Co. Inc. About a third of Amazon buyers said they would not make a purchase if they hadn’t purchased the product from Amazon .

The survey also found that nearly 90% of Amazon consumers had not shopped in physical stores before their most recent purchase on Amazon . This change fully demonstrates that consumers have almost no need to check out products in physical stores before purchasing on online retailers such as Amazon , as they have become more and more fond of and accustomed to online shopping.
