Available on multiple platforms, 5,100 wooden house toy sets have been recalled

On November 4, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of 5,100 Chinese-made log cabin outdoor play sets. The reason for the recall is that the wooden parts used to reinforce and create decorative gable designs on wooden roofs pose an entrapment hazard to children, who may be trapped in the gap between the lower part of the roof structure and the bottom of the gable decoration.

The recall, numbered 22-706, involves multiple brands of outdoor play sets, including Turbo Racer, Cloud Racer, Captain's For and Fort Highlander. The sets include solid wood roofs with viewing windows, slides, swings, climbing walls and other play equipment.

The product was sold online at Costco.com from March 2019 to May 2021 , and online at Lowes.com from December 2020 to May 2021 , for about $1,000. During this period, 5,100 units were sold in the United States and about 200 units were sold in Canada. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has not received any reports of injuries or deaths.

Consumers who purchased the product should immediately stop using the recalled playset and contact Backyard Play Systems to receive a free repair kit , which includes replacement wood, hardware , and installation instructions . If consumers are unable or unwilling to repair the set themselves, they can contact Backyard to have a representative perform the repair for them free of charge . In addition, Backyard is directly contacting all known purchasers.

The product is still on sale on Costco.com , with a product rating of 3.9. Many parents said in their comments that their children like this toy product very much, and it can provide children with a place to play when they cannot travel during the epidemic. However, some parents also said that the workmanship of some wooden blocks of this product is not good enough.
