Wayfair launches live shopping channel

Wayfair On Air's live content includes two categories: one focuses on providing cost-effective home solutions for families of all sizes and styles; the other aims to provide people with versatile home living products. In addition, as the holidays approach, the channel will also launch holiday deals and seasonal tips and tricks.

The current roster of anchors includes celebrity chef Danny Boome, home blogger Amiyrah Martin and shopping expert Albany Irvin. Wayfair said more anchors will be added in the future.

Consumers (currently only iOS users) can enter the Wayfair On Air channel by opening the Wayfair app and tapping the "Watch" button in the bottom navigation bar, where they can watch their favorite videos and add their favorite products to their shopping cart.

“With Wayfair On Air, we’re bringing a fun shopping experience to consumers,” said Steve Oblak, Chief Business Officer at Wayfair. “We look forward to building on this feature and expanding our roster of creators to provide even more content to engage customers.”

It is understood that Wayfair is the largest home furnishings e-commerce platform in the United States, with a catalog of 10 million products from 12,000 brands, and operations across North America and Europe. Its net revenue reached US$14.8 billion in the twelve months ended June 30, 2021.

In terms of products, Wayfair mainly sells mid-range furniture, and its categories include large furniture, bedding, carpets and tapestries, lamps and kitchenware, storage supplies, children's products, pet supplies, etc.

Wayfair has opened a channel for Chinese cross-border sellers to enter the platform. Cross-border sellers engaged in home furnishings can pay special attention to it.

Speaking of live shopping, in addition to Wayfair, the social platform Pinterest has also launched a similar channel recently. Recently, Pinterest announced the launch of the Pinterest TV channel. The channel focuses on food, home, fashion, beauty, DIY and other fields, supports creators to live broadcast videos, and insert shopping links.

Starting from November 8, creators will go online on Pinterest TV and start live broadcasts. Users only need to click the TV icon in the upper left corner of the Pinterest application to view the live broadcast, interact with creators, ask questions through chat and get answers in real time.

It is not difficult to find from Pinterest and Wayfair's increased investment in live shopping channels that video shopping is now favored by more and more consumers.
