Recently, Klarna, a global banking, shopping and payment service company, released a research report that predicts consumption trends for the upcoming holiday shopping season based on the shopping attributes of Italian consumers.
The report pointed out that Italian consumers are expected to start holiday shopping earlier, with 28% of buyers starting holiday shopping during Black Friday and turning on the "shopping mode". According to forecasts, electronic products, clothing and footwear will become popular commodities in Italy this year's holiday shopping season.
Many buyers said that starting shopping early can get more discounts and avoid delivery delays as much as possible, especially for technology products.
Francesco Passone, Klarna country manager for Italy, said that 24% of Italian consumers expect to spend more on gifts this year than last year. Among them, millennials have the highest budget, with an average expenditure of about 471 euros per person.
The report also shows that about six in ten Italian consumers look for shopping inspiration online. E-commerce platforms are still one of their main ways of shopping, with 47% of consumers saying they shop on e-commerce platforms. Although most of them browse and search for products through social media, only 16% of Italian consumers said they would buy on these platforms.
In recent years, the Italian e-commerce market has shown strong growth momentum and is one of the fastest growing e-commerce markets in Europe. The number of online shoppers has reached 19 million, close to one-third of the total population. The scale of e-commerce in 2020 has reached 36.4 billion euros.
According to the latest report from a B2C e-commerce research institute, Italian e-commerce sales are expected to reach 39.4 billion euros in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 21%. The e-commerce penetration rate has also increased from 9% in 2020 to 10% in 2021. The increase in e-commerce penetration has also prompted young Italian consumers to frequently shop across borders.
In Italy, consumers' favorite online shopping products are clothing and consumer electronics, followed by food, toys and other products. According to the survey, Italians prefer to buy the above products from the United States, Germany, China and other regions.
Amazon is their favorite e-commerce platform, with about 180 million visits per month. In addition, Media World, a German consumer electronics retail store, is the first choice for Italian buyers to buy consumer electronics products.
In addition to product quality and logistics, Italian buyers pay a lot of attention to first impressions when shopping. Therefore, sellers should also pay attention to this during the transaction process and strive to get full "impression points" . Italy E-commerce |
