For cross-border sellers, return and refund are probably one of the most troublesome things, after all, they have to bear a series of losses. However, some people take advantage of the refund rules of the platform to make money, and even commit crimes. Recently, Xiamen Siming Court tried such a case.
It is understood that a man (Zhou Mou) teamed up with others to defraud refunds paid by the platform after discovering a loophole in the refund rules of Amazon Australia.
According to the investigation, Zhou registered a seller account and a buyer account on Amazon Australia, and another accomplice, Liao Mouting, provided the buyer's credit card. Liao Mouting then found four other accomplices to discuss and provide Zhou with a credit card.
The specific process of the crime is as follows: Zhou uploaded low-priced goods on Amazon Australia through a seller account, and then purchased these goods in large quantities through a buyer account under his control.
After successfully placing an order, Zhou uploaded the forged express delivery number to the platform, creating a record of a successful transaction. Then, Zhou used the buyer's account to request a return of the goods on the grounds of quality problems, and applied for a refund of up to AUD 1,000 for each item , in order to defraud the platform of the refund paid in advance.
At the same time, Zhou also "cleverly" reported the credit card bound to the seller's account as lost, making it impossible for the platform to pursue the refund from the seller's account. After investigation, it was found that since 2019, in more than a year, this criminal gang used this method to defraud Amazon Australia of a total of about 4.95 million yuan in refunds!
It has to be said that this method of using platform loopholes to defraud refunds is indeed "clever". Sellers work hard but it is not as good as "taking advantage of loopholes" to make money quickly. However, the law is vast and nothing can escape it. No matter how cunning the criminal method is, it cannot escape the punishment of the law. At present, the criminal gang has been tried by the court and the case is still under trial.
Over the years, we have seen many cases where domestic and foreign buyers and sellers have taken advantage of platform loopholes to make profits, but without exception, these people have been punished by law. Yienjun also reminds sellers to operate legally and not be blinded by temporary interests. Amazon Scams Refund |
