Specializing in designer handbags, KAYU uses the finest natural materials to create timeless personal and home accessories, while leading the industry in sustainable and ethical production practices. About KAYU Jamie Lim grew up in Southeast Asia, surrounded by beautiful handicrafts—the batik smocks her mother wore, the rattan chairs in her dining room, and the straw bowls she used to store fruit. She moved to the United States as a teenager but often returned to Asia. When she was there, she would seek out these crafts but noticed that they were slowly but surely disappearing and being replaced by mass-produced synthetic alternatives. Jamie created Kayu to connect to her childhood memories while preserving native craftsmanship and providing a living wage for artisans. Over the past decade, Kayu has continued to grow, but its values and mission have remained the same; to create timeless personal and home accessories using the finest natural materials while leading the industry in sustainable and ethical production practices. KAYU's Materials Every step of the KAYU supply chain is considered to minimize impact on the environment. We seek ways to support the environment and workers by reducing waste and energy, ensuring fair trade practices, and building long-term relationships with artisans and craftspeople. Many of the studios we work with have been family-owned for generations, and our products are handmade using time-honored techniques. FAQ Q: Where are KAYU products manufactured?
