Amazon launches one-time pickup password to ensure delivery security

The safety of express parcels during delivery has always been a concern for consumers when shopping online. In addition, the frequent loss of express parcels in recent times has increased the concerns of many people about the safety of express delivery. Especially for some high-value goods, consumers are more concerned.

In response to this problem, Amazon Italy recently launched a new security measure. When an order is shipped, Amazon will display a six-digit digital password to the email address associated with the consumer account or in "Track My Package". This password is a one-time password, representing only this order, and is valid until the end of the delivery date.

If the package is delivered, the courier and the recipient need to check the six-digit code with each other to verify the delivery. Consumers can also share this code with trusted people in case the user cannot receive the package. If the package is not signed for, the courier will retry delivery on the next business day.

Regarding this security measure, Amazon said that given the value of some orders, it is necessary for the platform to provide a one-time password for use at the time of delivery to ensure greater security.

Amazon has not yet specified a threshold for the use of this measure. Some consumers have done some tests, such as buying Samsung phones or similar products, and then enjoyed this service. In short, Amazon is trying to make the delivery of some particularly expensive products safer.

During the epidemic, the reduction of interpersonal contact between customers and couriers has also increased the number of theft cases. The addition of this security measure is undoubtedly a wise decision.

Some consumers expressed their approval of this new measure.

——The password can effectively ensure the safe delivery of my package. The courier cannot say "I left the package with my neighbor" because the neighbor does not know the password.

——This one is perfect for those who buy expensive items

Some consumers have also raised their doubts about this measure.

——It’s useless for me... because I often have packages left at the door of my apartment. Because I have to go to work and can’t answer the phone...

——If the courier is still outside my door, there is no use having the password.

This measure has just been implemented and there are still many areas that need to be improved. However, the implementation of the measure is guaranteed for both buyers and sellers. Consumers can buy with more confidence, while sellers can also reduce the losses caused by the loss of goods.
