In the United States , the CPSC issued a total of 219 recall notices in 2021 , a decrease of 14.8% from the previous year . There were 134 products from China, one less than the previous year, accounting for 61.2% of the total CPSC recalls, an increase of 8.7 percentage points from the previous year, involving an amount of approximately US$5.39 billion.
It should be noted that among the Chinese product recall notifications issued by the CPSC in 2021, 39 cases were joint recalls by the United States and Canada, accounting for 29.1% of the Chinese product recall notifications.
The most recalled products were electrical appliances /electrical equipment (16.4%), followed by children's products (12.7%) and textiles and clothing (10.4%).
Among the 22 recalled electrical appliances/electrical equipment products, 13 posed a risk of fire; and among the 14 recalled textile and clothing products, 11 posed a risk of burns or fire because they did not meet flammability standards.
In the EU , a total of 2,134 recall notifications were issued by the safety gate in 2021 , a decrease of 4.2% from the previous year. Among them, there were 1,041 recall notifications originating from China, a decrease of 6% from the previous year, accounting for 48.8% of the total number of safety gate notifications, a decrease of 1 percentage point from the previous year.
The most reported products originating from China are toys ( 33.5%), followed by electrical appliances and equipment (15.9%), protective equipment (12.6%), etc.
The reason for the notification of toy products is that they do not comply with various European standards and regulations . Among them, there are 237 items that do not comply with the EU Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC, 190 items of mechanical and physical performance EN71-1 standards, 92 items of REACH regulations, 21 items of RoHS2 directives, 14 items of EN71-3 standards, 14 items of nitrosamines and nitrosamine compounds EN71-12 standards, and 9 items of electric toy safety EN62115 standards .
There are 452 risks involved , of which chemical risks (171) and suffocation risks caused by the detachment of small parts (146) are the most significant. Among chemical hazards, plastic toys and phthalates contained in plastic toys have the highest excess levels. Europe and America recall |
