Winter storm reappears in the United States, and back-end delivery will continue to be affected

According to foreign media reports, the icy and snowy weather in southern Georgia has put much of the southeastern United States in a state of emergency preparedness, and most shoppers have begun searching store shelves for storm supplies, including sleds, salt, shovels and wood.

Earlier this month, a snowstorm in Virginia stranded thousands of motorists on clogged highways, while in North Carolina, some store shelves were stripped of essentials such as bread and milk.

In addition to hoarding necessities offline, consumers are also likely to experience delayed delivery of online orders. According to foreign media reports, package delivery by the three major express delivery companies in the United States will be affected to varying degrees. Weather forecasters said that large areas of the United States will see lows in the 20s, and any precipitation may freeze, which may make driving difficult even if it is not dangerous.

Winter storm warnings reportedly stretch from north of metropolitan Atlanta to Arkansas in the west and upstate New York in the north, covering parts of at least 14 states, including Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. Atlanta is expected to see a mix of ice and up to 2 inches (5 centimeters) of snow, along with extremely high winds, according to an advisory issued Saturday by the National Weather Service.

Crews have already begun dealing with snow accumulation on some major roads and highways. In addition to the accumulation of ice and snow, state officials said motorists should be careful because the storm could also cause downed trees or power lines. Meanwhile, the state highway agency warned that labor shortages mean crews may not be able to respond to problem areas as quickly as usual.

After the storm entered the Southeast over the weekend, it is expected to enter the Northeast, bringing snow, sleet and rain around the densely populated East Coast. Relevant U.S. government agencies said people need to minimize travel to avoid unnecessary dangers, and for the e-commerce industry, extended home time also helps to increase online sales.
