Shopify partners with Spotify to give artists new ways to sell

In China, the music platforms that are currently well-known to everyone include NetEase Cloud Music and QQ Music, etc. In foreign countries, Apple Music and Spotify are more commonly used by users.

Spotify is a legitimate streaming music service platform that was officially launched in Sweden in 2008. Recently, the platform announced a partnership with Shopify, allowing users to purchase items from the relevant artists' Shopify stores directly through the Spotify app.

In addition to making existing Shopify stores of artists on the platform more accessible, this collaboration will also provide a new source of income for artists who have not yet created a store and can attract artists who have opened stores on other platforms to switch to the Shopify platform.

Shopify said the platform has supported thousands of artists who are expanding their businesses beyond just music and building their own brands.

At the same time, Shopify mentioned that its application ecosystem can also provide artists with new services, such as printing on demand and discovering new products. The platform can also help artists manage huge traffic when releasing new products.

As for the linking issue, artists need to log in to the Spotify for Artists dashboard on the desktop , then go to the "Profile" tab and click "Merch." Artists can pick three items from their Shopify store to be displayed on their profile interface. Currently, each artist can only link one Shopify store account.

According to the editor, in order to encourage artists to register and link their accounts, Shopify offers a 90-day free trial to all Spotify artists who register for the first time.

However, the feature is currently in beta, and while all artists worldwide can link their Shopify stores, only users in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States will see the merchandise.

It is reported that this is not the first time Spotify has cooperated with other platforms to enable artists to promote merchandise through the application. Previously, Spotify has also cooperated with services including Merchbar, BandPage and Topspin .

Although Shopify and Spotify have different focuses, Shopify believes that the e-commerce platform is a complement to various creators' businesses, while Spotify focuses more on artists, but they have similar interests in the creator economy.
