Lazada partners with Perak state government to help small and medium-sized enterprises grow

Today, according to foreign media reports, Southeast Asia's leading e-commerce platform Lazada and Malaysia's Perak State Government announced today a partnership to boost e-commerce revenue for thousands of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Perak.

Lazada said that from October 1 to December 31, 2021, Lazada will showcase businesses and products from Perak through a dedicated Shop Malaysia Online homepage on the app, and provide a series of exclusive offers, platform vouchers and free delivery vouchers to help sellers increase online traffic and sales.

In addition, sellers will also be able to receive benefits worth RM2,000 through Lazada’s Pintar Niaga stimulus plan. Benefits include zero commission, payment and listing fees, free marketing solution credits worth RM150 and free delivery. Lazada hopes to help sellers better enter the e-commerce market through these measures.

Subsequently, Lazada highlighted that new sellers in Perak, Malaysia will also be eligible to participate in Lazada’s Start It Up campaign, where sellers will have a chance to win prizes worth US$10,000 if they launch a Lazada marketplace store in active selling mode before October 30 (11:59pm).

YB Dato' Zainol bin Haji Paharudin , Chairman of the Executive Committee for Rural Development, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives of the Perak State of Malaysia, said: "The global impact of the pandemic has affected the global economy and hit a large number of businesses. We have also seen many Malaysians who have lost their jobs venturing into entrepreneurship to make ends meet. Through effective collaboration between the public and private sectors, such as our partnership with Lazada to organize the STeP Carnival, we will further accelerate Perak's digital transformation in our efforts to achieve the aspiration of establishing Malaysia as a Digital ASEAN Hub."

Darren Rajaratnam, Chief Operating Officer of Lazada Malaysia, said: “Lazada is a strong supporter of Malaysia’s SME industry upgrading and government economic development. In addition to helping sellers lower the barriers to entry into e-commerce, we are constantly looking for innovative ways to use our technology to future-proof our merchants and their businesses. We are delighted that entrepreneurs and businesses in Perak have joined the Lazada family.”
