Logistics and transportation company DHL will impose peak season surcharges in the United States

DHL eCommerce, the e-commerce division of German transport and logistics giant Deutsche Post DHL, recently announced that it will impose a peak season surcharge on parcel shipping to the United States. Depending on the size of the package, the transportation distance and the delivery time, the surcharge will range from 20 cents to $5 per piece . The surcharge will be effective from October 3 to December 25, 2021 .

 

DHL will impose a surcharge of 20 cents per piece on all shipments weighing less than 1 pound and shipped within the 48 contiguous states of the United States , and a surcharge of 30 cents per piece on such shipments in areas such as Alaska and Hawaii .

 

At the same time, DHL will impose a surcharge of 29 cents on all packages weighing 1 to 25 pounds and with a transportation time of 2 to 5 days in the 48 contiguous states of the United States , and a surcharge ranging from 75 cents to $ 5 per piece for such goods in areas such as Alaska and Hawaii .

 

In the final stage of door-to-door delivery, DHL cooperates with the United States Postal Service ( USPS ) . Since USPS provides the last mile delivery service, this means that DHL parcels will be superimposed with peak season surcharges for some USPS services. The surcharge for regular delivery is 30 cents per piece , and the surcharge for Priority Mail ranges from 25 cents to $5 per piece .

 

In addition, DHL said that the surcharge for returns ranges from 45 cents to $ 1 per item , depending on the product being returned .
