On the occasion of International Coffee Day on October 1, SberMarket, a food delivery service platform in the Russian Federation, analyzed the Russian coffee market and its demand, as well as how people's preferences are changing.
In September this year , when SberMarket conducted a survey on the Russian market , 64% of respondents said they often drank coffee , 54% said they often drank tea, and 27% liked to drink lemonade and other beverages.
Among coffee lovers, most said they regularly drink instant coffee ( 46%) and hand-ground coffee ( 39%) , while 5% of Russians prefer capsule coffee.
According to the latest data from SberMarket, in September 2021, instant coffee had the best sales , accounting for 4% of the total sales of all commodities in September 2021 ; coffee beans ranked second, accounting for 2% of the total sales ; hand - ground coffee ranked third ( 1.4%) , and three-in-one coffee and capsule coffee ranked fourth and fifth respectively.
Coffee sales fell 1% in September 2021 compared to September 2020. Instant coffee also saw a 1.2% decrease in purchase frequency , while coffee beans saw a 1.5% decrease in purchase frequency year-over- year .
However , sales of coffee machines increased 3.55 times year-on-year , which may be due to the increase in demand for coffee machines in the office as employees began to return to work . In addition , according to a survey by SberMarket and Research Me , 17% of Russians said they were less likely to buy tea and coffee by ordering takeout .
At the same time, the survey also found that Muscovites buy coffee more frequently than in other regions , with the capital accounting for 22% of the total number of orders from all over the Russian Federation . In second place is St. Petersburg (8%) , Novosibirsk, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg , Samara and Rostov-on-Don each accounting for 4% of total coffee sales ; Tyumen, Volgograd and Krasnoyarsk each account for 3% of total coffee sales .
Curiously, the largest cities such as Perm , Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk , Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Anadyr have the least demand for coffee, with the category accounting for less than 1% of sales in these cities. Independent website Product Selection Cross-border e-commerce market |
