Sellers please note! Amazon US will launch a new self-delivery plan

Recently, Amazon US announced that in order to help international sellers manage seller-delivered returns from US customers, Amazon has launched the " Return Provider (RP) Program ".

The new Return Provider Program states: If a seller does not have a U.S. return address, a service provider will contact the seller participating in the Return Provider Program to manage the seller's returns.

Using this program not only simplifies the return process for international sellers in the U.S. and helps sellers recover return costs , but also improves the return experience for buyers . After joining the program, sellers can get prepaid returns for self-fulfilled orders and the supplier's U.S. warehouse address, further simplifying the return process for buyers .

The Returns Provider Program will be available to a small number of international sellers on February 16, 2022, and then to all sellers by March 2022.

Different sellers expressed their views on this new return provider program :

Seller A : Yes, that’s what we need, a way to further assist international sellers on the US platform, well done Amazon, you did it !

Seller B : Don't fall for this. Domestic sellers in the US can't even recoup their return costs. Don't think you will be any different. Read the statement carefully, by participating in the program, customers will get their money back immediately, at the seller's expense.

Seller C: Is this a solution for international sellers? Ridiculous! International sellers all over the world are pulling their listings from Amazon because of the free returns button, including US sellers. The service they offer will not attract any sellers back to international listings, and sellers must pay service fees for returns, and most sellers affected by this will continue to build their business on other sales channels.

Judging from the above comments, sellers have different views on this plan. Some believe that this plan is indeed what they need and expect, while some sellers believe that this plan cannot solve their problems at all, and is even a measure for Amazon to retain international sellers.

The issue of returns has always been an important problem that has plagued Amazon sellers. It is certainly feasible for the platform to introduce policies to help sellers simplify the return process, but the key is for sellers to operate in good faith, ensure product quality and after-sales service, and minimize return issues.
