Recently, an Amazon seller uploaded a video on TikTok, detailing a story about a consumer who attempted to "scam" him by returning a product.
It is understood that the seller's Amazon brand is called Tabor Place, and its main customer group is families who want to reduce the use of plastic. According to the seller in the TikTok video, he has been selling products on Amazon for more than five years and has not encountered many returns, but a few of them have caused "serious" problems.
"Normally when someone buys something on Amazon and wants to return it, I want it to be sent back to my house. I do this so I can see if there are any damages or defects or anything like that so I can understand why the person is returning it. However, I received a bad return today and it's ridiculous."
The seller then showed a VTech product box with a shipping label. "It says it's a mini set of two glass sippy cups for toddlers."
The seller then used TikTok's green screen feature to show what the cups he was selling looked like.
“This is what the buyer sent me back,” she said, showing the box, which made it clear the consumer was trying to return an entirely different product.
The problem now is that Amazon charges sellers for returns and also refunds the fees for the products to the buyers.
The seller said that this was not the first time he had encountered such a thing. He had previously encountered a situation where the buyer returned a tape measure, which was simply outrageous.
In the second half of the video, the seller speculated that the consumer only had this box at home, so he sent it to him, so he decided to open it to see what was inside.
Then she opened the package and took out the contents, which turned out to be a toy tool box wrapped in plastic. Based on the packaging, the toy appeared to be a Drill & Learn tool box from VTech. "It didn't look like the sippy cups I was selling to me," she said.
Luckily, the seller said she could dispute the return, and she seemed to have found a use for the toy, as the video ends with footage of her two children playing with it outside.
In the video comment section, some netizens expressed their opinions:
One person commented: "I think it's possible that the person processing the return mislabeled it."
Others think it’s Amazon’s fault: “I ordered a deodorant before, but I received an empty plastic package.” Amazon return the goods Seller |
