Cross-border shopping is a normal part of life for Brazilian consumers, and China is the most popular cross-border online shopping market. Data shows that 7 out of every 10 Brazilian consumers have purchased cross-border goods from China online!
According to a survey by Reclame Aqui Institute , 56.5% of Brazilian online consumers have shopped on platforms such as AliExpress, Shein, and Shopee , and 50.7% of consumers said that good quality and low prices are the main reasons that attract them to shop on these websites .
Influenced by Europe and the United States, users in the Brazilian market generally prefer branded products and pursue cost-effective products. The hot-selling products are mainly small and light items . Men prefer headphones, smart wearables, and gaming products; while women prefer masks, selfie accessories, etc.
The survey also showed that the most popular categories of electronic products and accessories, including headphones, sound bars, TV sticks, graphics cards, etc. , accounted for 18.1% ; clothing ranked second, accounting for 14.1%; and beauty products ranked third in purchase volume, accounting for about 1%.
In addition, the purchase volume of consumer electronics products on AliExpress has also been steadily increasing, such as home audio and video, televisions, car audio and video, speakers, home audio and video accessories , etc.; home department store products such as small kitchen appliances, cookware sets, coffee machines, blenders, tableware and cutting accessories, baking trays, etc. have also attracted more attention from Brazilian consumers.
In the survey, some buyers also raised issues that should be improved when shopping on AliExpress. For example, 55.1% of buyers hope that delivery time can be accelerated ; 26.3% said that after-sales service needs to be improved.
The survey report also pointed out that among Brazilian consumers, the most complained issues are delivery time, refund service, product tracking, platform service and product quality. For those who have never purchased on foreign e-commerce platforms, a quarter of consumers said they lack trust in the website.
As the world's seventh largest economy , Brazil has strong economic development, an Internet penetration rate of 75%, and 42% of the B2C e-commerce market share in Latin America , making it the largest online retail market in Latin America.
The local people have considerable spending power . Compared with the younger generation , the main consumer group is mainly the mature population aged 25 and above, who have higher spending power.
