Amazon recalls tabletop fireplace due to lack of label warning

Recently, the Canadian Ministry of Health publicly recalled a JHY product that was popular on Amazon.   Design tabletop fireplace . The recall is due to the lack of any label and hazard warning information.

The recalled products do not comply with the labeling requirements of the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001, of the Canadian Consumer Product Safety Act for consumer chemical containers sold for the purpose of being filled with hazardous chemicals , nor do they comply with ASTM F3363-19 Standard Specification for Portable Appliances for Unvented Liquid/Gel Fuel Combustion or an equivalent standard.

Health Canada said that when refueling, this JHYDesign tabletop fireplace may cause a dangerous situation of "flame jetting", which may easily pose a danger to the user.

As of September 15, 2021, the company has not received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada, but Health Canada recommends that consumers stop using these recalled fireplaces immediately. According to statistics, approximately 300 affected products were sold in Canada. The affected products were sold between December 2020 and September 2021. The relevant models are no longer available for sale on Amazon.

It is understood that about 300 of the recalled fireplaces have been sold on Amazon.ca from December 2020 to September this year. The recall number of the China-made product is RA-76469.

Due to the climate and environment, fireplaces are particularly popular in homes in Europe and the United States, especially as winter approaches. The temperature in Europe and the United States is very low in winter, and fireplaces can serve as heating, which leads to increased sales of fireplaces.

In addition to small tabletop fireplaces, natural gas fireplaces are gradually replacing wood fireplaces and becoming the new favorite of Canadian families. Natural gas fireplaces are safer and more convenient than traditional fireplaces, and the height and intensity of their flames are relatively easier to control. They are also cheaper and less expensive than wood.

Regarding the use of fireplaces, in addition to clear markings on the outside of the packaging, consumers must also master the correct usage methods to avoid safety accidents.
