Sendcloud Completes US$177 Million Series C Financing

As Europe’s leading integrated e-commerce shipping platform, Sendcloud serves tens of thousands of online retailers by optimizing the entire shipping process from checkout to returns . Recently, Sendcloud announced that it has completed a $177 million (nearly £128 million) Series C financing.

 

It is reported that Sendcloud's investment in this round was led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2, with significant strategic investments from L Catterton and HPE Growth . The company said it intends to use the new funds to expand its business in the UK. Currently , they have a team of 15 sales staff and 3 marketing staff in the UK . The team size is expected to double by 2022 and expand to 60 people in 2024 .

 

In addition to expanding its UK team , Sendcloud also plans to use the funds to accelerate its development to expand its international presence . Sendcloud currently has 400 employees and plans to recruit an additional 250 employees in the next 12 months to support the company's growth .

 

“We try to provide Amazon-level logistics services to other merchants,” said Rob van den Heuvel, CEO and co-founder of Sendcloud. The company currently has 23,000 customers and is growing rapidly at an average annual rate of 70% to 80% . During the lockdown, Sendcloud processed 133% more parcels and has not seen a drop in transactions so far .

 

Sendcloud is essentially an aggregator and integrator that brings together e-commerce technology providers that retailers often use , and has more than 50 integrations with companies such as Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, Amazon , etc. It also cooperates with many large transportation companies such as DHL, UPS, FedEx, DPD , etc. Sendcloud integrates these services through its own cloud platform, and cooperating retailers can freely search and choose services that suit their needs.

 

It is reported that the Sendcloud platform can directly manage the transportation of European carriers and provide a variety of transportation methods, including cross-border transportation, locker delivery, same-day delivery, and even delivery at any time . In addition, Sendcloud provides access to more than 400,000 service points in Europe, enabling customers to pick up packages at their favorite parcel stores.

 

According to a recent study by Sendcloud, 71% of shoppers say they value delivery flexibility. As e-commerce booms, the growing parcel volume and emphasis on flexibility have increased the need for smart shipping solutions for online merchants.
