According to Amazon, the distribution center will be built in Baldonnell Business Park in Dublin , covering an area of approximately 630,000 square feet. It can accommodate the sorting and packaging of millions of products, and the distribution range covers Ireland and other European regions.
The distribution center is expected to officially begin operations next spring , providing users in Ireland and other places with a faster delivery experience, including same-day delivery services.
Amazon said it has started recruiting for a range of new positions at the center, including engineers, human resources and IT professionals, health and safety, financial experts and operations managers. Amazon employees responsible for picking, packing and shipping customer orders will also begin recruiting next year , providing about 500 jobs.
Amazon will pay all its employees in Ireland at least €12 an hour, whether full-time, part-time or seasonal, and plans to have more than 5,000 employees in Ireland by 2022.
At the same time, Amazon will also open a second delivery station at the Northwest Logistics Park in Ballycullin to serve customers in Dublin and surrounding areas. It covers an area of 83,500 square feet and will be fully operational this autumn.
Amazon opened an office in Ireland in 2004 , and the establishment of a new distribution center and distribution station now also reflects Amazon's attention to the local market. "Amazon has been operating in Ireland for 17 years, constantly developing and expanding its activities, and we are also looking forward to Ireland playing a more important role in Amazon's business," said IDA Ireland CEO.
Ireland's e-commerce market has also developed significantly during the epidemic. As Amazon increases its investment in the local market, it will further affect e-commerce sales. Under this situation, local retailers are also calling on the government to provide more online grant assistance to improve their competitiveness in the international market.
After Brexit, the market situation in Europe has also changed, and sellers should also pay attention to industry trends in a timely manner. Amazon Ireland Europe |
