Amazon to roll out self-checkout without store clerks at two Whole Foods stores opening next year

 

Amazon announced Wednesday that it will use the "Just Walk Out" technology in two Whole Foods stores set to open in 2022. One of the stores is located in Washington, D.C., and the other is in Sherman Oaks, California.

Consumers can enter the store by scanning the app, inserting a credit or debit card linked to their Amazon account, or placing their palm on a palm-print scanning system ( Amazon One), and then check out by themselves after selecting their items.

 

Thanksgiving e-commerce sales expected to exceed $6.2 billion in 2021

 

Walmart , Target and Best Buy announced that their offline stores will be closed during Thanksgiving this year, which means that a large number of American buyers will choose to buy Thanksgiving gifts online. It is reported that e-commerce sales during Thanksgiving in 2019 were US$4.13 billion, and eMarketer predicts that this year it will reach US$ 6.21 billion. DHL   eCommerce announced that it will impose a peak season surcharge on US parcel transportation, ranging from 20 cents to $5 per piece , depending on the size of the package, the transportation distance and the delivery time . The surcharge will start on October 3 and end at Christmas. At that time, a 20-cent surcharge will be charged for all goods weighing less than 1 pound shipped within the 48 states . For goods to and from non-contiguous areas of the United States (such as Alaska and Hawaii), a 30-cent surcharge will be charged.

 

In addition, DHL   eCommerce will impose a 29 cent surcharge on packages weighing 1 to 25 pounds for all contiguous U.S. deliveries with a delivery time of 2 to 3 days or 2 to 5 days. For non-contiguous service, the surcharge will increase to 75 cents to $5 per package, depending on the specific weight.
