Recently, a survey in Europe showed that the category with the highest return rate there is fashion, among which clothes and shoes have the highest return rate, reaching 56% , while the return rate of accessories is relatively low, about 30%.

 

The reason for the return is predictable, because clothes and shoes need to be actually worn on the body to see the effect. In addition, due to differences in personal body shape, if they do not meet expectations when worn, they will naturally be returned.

 

For clothing sellers, high return rates are common, but the return rate in Europe is more than half, which is a bit outrageous. Europeans are really picky. So clothing sellers should pay attention to this and be prepared to deal with this situation.

 

In addition, the reasons for returns of electronic products are also a point that sellers need to pay attention to. 68% of the reasons are not quality issues, but too difficult to operate. Therefore, when sellers are doing related categories, it is best to have detailed video introductions, such as installation methods, usage tips, etc. If it is easy to use, it can also reduce the return rate to a certain extent.

 

There are also differences in the return rate between countries. According to the survey, the country with the highest return rate is the Netherlands, and the lowest is Poland and Italy. In addition, the return rate in Spain is as high as 57%, the return rate in France is 37%, and the return rate in the UK is 44%. The return rate in Germany is less than half, and among them, the return rate of personal entertainment equipment such as games and toys is the lowest.

 

Moreover, according to consumer surveys, the "pay later" method is more popular among local people and can also reduce the chance of returns. However, there are currently very few sellers in the market that offer this option, and they hope that more sellers can provide this function.

 

Returns have always been a problem for e-commerce sellers. Not only do they affect subsequent sales of products, but they also cause shipping costs, which is even more troublesome for small sellers. Therefore, understanding the local return situation can help avoid risks to a certain extent.
