Amazon's new policy! Updates to the return and refund process for sellers who ship their own products

Recently, Amazon Europe released two new announcements.

First of all, Amazon Europe said it will update the seller's self-delivery return refund process starting August 9, 2021. While making it easier for sellers to process refunds and for buyers to understand the option of partial refunds, sellers can also rate the condition of returned goods.

Amazon said that buyers can get a full refund for items returned in original condition within the return policy, while partial refunds are applicable to items returned outside the policy or items that have been used or damaged to the point of being unsalable.

The amount of a partial refund is determined by the item's condition and product type. If a buyer decides to return a product for a partial refund due to damage, loss, or product discrepancy, they will need to provide a rating for the returned product and upload photos of the product. Amazon will use this to supplement the information of the abuse detection mechanism and protect sellers from fraudulent returns.

At the same time, Amazon Europe emphasized that the new refund workflow helps sellers calculate partial refunds and shipping costs directly in the Seller Center, but sellers still need to refund within two working days of receiving the return receipt.

Due to the recent large number of fraudulent returns by unscrupulous buyers, the interests of sellers have been seriously damaged. Sellers have no channels for complaints or countermeasures, and they are suffering. Although the launch of Amazon's announcement cannot directly purify the consumer environment, it can still deter fraudulent buyers and protect the rights and interests of sellers to a certain extent.

In addition, Amazon said that the new energy efficiency information label will take effect in Europe and the UK.

The new policy updates the products and publishing steps that are subject to energy labeling regulations, requiring sellers to upload a series of required information such as product titles, product highlights, product manuals, etc., to ensure that any text or images related to energy rating information in the products sold by sellers comply with the new regulations.

The launch of this announcement is related to the EU's updated energy labeling management law. The editor hereby reminds sellers to pay attention to policy and announcement updates, and to change and maintain product information in a timely manner to avoid unnecessary losses.
