Italy's small and medium-sized sellers continue to make efforts, with annual sales exceeding 600 million

As the fourth largest economy in Europe, Italy's e-commerce development has also made a big leap during the epidemic. According to Amazon's report: In 2020, the cross-border sales of Italian small and medium-sized sellers on Amazon reached 600 million euros.

More than half of Amazon Italy’s sales come from small and medium-sized sellers, who are the key group that generates revenue for the platform, so the development of small and medium-sized sellers is particularly important.

The statistics involved 18,000 small and medium-sized sellers, of which more than 4,000 sellers had sales exceeding 100,000 euros, and more than 200 sellers had sales exceeding 1 million euros for the first time. In 2020, the number of products sold on Amazon in Italy reached more than 80 million, an increase of 30 million over the same period, and the momentum should not be underestimated.

Moreover, according to the preferences of local consumers, the five most popular categories are home kitchen, health and personal care, beauty, food, and clothing.

The director of the Italian site believes: "Italy's business structure has huge potential, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises is the core of our business model, so we will continue to provide more support for small and medium-sized sellers."

Many small and medium-sized sellers also said: "By selling on Amazon, our products are more likely to become well-known and gain access to a larger market. Through training, we can also have a deeper understanding of the development potential of e-commerce."

Moreover, compared with other e-commerce platforms, Amazon's logistics speed is faster, so many Italians prefer to choose the Amazon platform, which creates more possibilities for small and medium-sized sellers.

Except for Italy, small and medium-sized sellers across Europe have performed very well, with online transaction volume in the first quarter of this year tripling year-on-year. Moreover, in the past 15 months, new sellers accounted for 36%, and all kinds of products have begun to join the ranks of e-commerce.

According to forecasts, small and medium-sized sellers will become the backbone of European e-commerce development in the next few years. At present, Italy's overall development level is not as good as that of the United Kingdom, France and Germany. Interested sellers can also do market research and enter the market with caution.
