The four newest certifications include: EPA’s Safer Choice Label, which indicates that a product’s ingredients meet EPA’s safety standards for human health and the environment; and EWG Verified, which indicates that a product does not contain chemicals of concern to the Environmental Working Group; as well as Regenerative Organic Certification and the Animal Welfare Approved Label.
Currently, Amazon's sustainable product labeling program has 31 certifications, and there are more than 75,000 products related to the Climate Friendly Commitment Program. The sustainable product category covers groceries, home, beauty and other products, and continues to expand its scope so that consumers can quickly find environmentally friendly products.
The report mentioned that in order to achieve its goal of becoming a net zero carbon company by 2040, Amazon will increase its marketing efforts and strive to put sustainable products on the shelves.
In fact, as early as September last year, Amazon launched the "Climate Pledge Friendly" program, which bundles certification information related to animal welfare, workers' rights and environmental awareness under a proprietary label. Qualified products will receive a "Climate Pledge Friendly" badge, which can not only appear on website listings, but also be displayed in dedicated stores.
In recent years, with the development of the economy and the penetration of sustainable development awareness, more and more consumers have begun to pay attention to sustainable products. In Germany, 76% of people care whether the product packaging is environmentally friendly; in the United States, 60% of consumers will pay for sustainable products. In addition, 75% of Poles will actively purchase sustainable products.
It's not just consumers. In addition to Amazon, some retailers have also joined the sustainable product queue early on. For example, Target, a well-known American retailer, marks various health icons on products in offline and online stores. In addition, they also launched a "clean" icon in 2019 to identify some chemical-free products.
