Since the gaming giants dare to copy, they can only wait to be sued!

Even the gaming giant Asmodee dared to copy, so we joined forces with Amazon to sue him.

On June 25, local time , Asmodee and Amazon filed a lawsuit against two sellers, alleging that they copied two of its popular board games: Dixit: Daydreams Expansion and Dixit: Revelations Expansion. Asmodee staff investigated after receiving complaints from customers who purchased copies of the counterfeit game Dixit: Daydreams, confirming the infringement.

Amazon has closed the defendant’s account and proactively refunded affected customers. According to the final judgment, Asmodee was awarded permanent injunction relief (future losses caused by infringement can be assisted), all infringing products containing the Dixit trademark under the two defendants will be seized, and in addition, Asmodee will have to bear the litigation costs.

Asmodee is a global gaming brand founded in 1995. Its popular product portfolio includes Game of Thrones: The Board Game, Pandemic, and CATAN. In July 2020, Asmodee acquired Libellud, a world-renowned board game brand, one of which is the highly acclaimed narrative game Dixit. There are currently 10 versions of this series, and two of them were plagiarized this time.

This game is suitable for both children and adults. There are pictures on the cards, and players can string the pictures together to tell stories. The cards can give full play to their imagination and have different interpretations. The same deck of cards can have different versions of the story. The game lasts about half an hour and is very suitable for family and friends gatherings. Searching on Amazon also received unanimous praise from players.

We want people to have fun with their family and friends, enjoy a high-quality product, and also respect the creativity of our team.

——Céline Bucki, Legal Director of Asmodee Group

Copyright issues should always be the first thing to consider. Since this type of product is very popular, you can innovate on this basis from another angle, or develop more creative products. This is a reasonable way to "ride on the popularity". Plagiarism is the lowest level and most shameful.

Infringement has always been a taboo on the Amazon platform. Once discovered, the product will be removed from the shelves at the least, or the account will be blocked or the product will face the risk of being sued. Tragic cases are not uncommon in China, but there are still people who want to take advantage of loopholes, and they are the ones who suffer losses in the end. Again, infringement is absolutely not advisable.
