What is Shoppers Drug Mart? Shoppers Drug Mart Review, Features


Shoppers Drug Mart is Canada's largest retail pharmacy chain, headquartered in North York, Toronto, Ontario. It has more than 1,241 stores in nine provinces and two territories in Canada. It was founded by Murray Koffler, and the Koffler family also retains ownership of pharmaceutical pharmacies in Israel, Poland and China.

About Shoppers Drug Mart

  • On July 15, 2013, Loblaw announced the acquisition of Shoppers Drug Mart for $12.4 billion. Murray Koffler inherited two Drugs pharmacies in the suburbs of Toronto when he was 20 years old. By 1962, Koffler had grown into a chain of 17 stores. In the 1970s, it was renamed "Shoppers Drug Mart".

  • In 2010, Shoppers Drug Mart had revenue of $10.376 billion, operating income of $897 million, and net profit of $590.7 million.
