Prime Day sold $11 billion in two days, sellers: Why did I receive 0 orders!

The 2021 Amazon PD, which made some people happy and some people sad , ended yesterday . By the end of PD, Prime members around the world had purchased more than 250 million items in total .

Adobe had previously predicted that Amazon PD's total sales in 2021 would exceed US$10.9 billion, and this prediction eventually became a reality!

Raised $11 billion in 2 days

According to CNBC, Adobe Analytics data showed that during Amazon 's 48-hour PD event , total online retail sales in the United States exceeded US$11 billion ( RMB 71.1997 billion ) .

Adobe data showed that the first day of the PD flash sale had online sales of $5.6 billion , which was a good start. This made it the largest day for online sales in the United States this year , and as a result, Amazon's stock price rose by more than 1% on Tuesday afternoon . The company's market value exceeded $1.7 trillion.

But in comparison, the sales of the second day of PD fell slightly to only 5.4 billion US dollars. The 2-day sales of 11 billion US dollars were higher than last year's Cyber Monday, but the PD event lasted 48 hours, while the latter only lasted 24 hours.

This year's Member Day was dull

Adobe said that this year 's PD sales were only 6.1% higher than the total e-commerce transactions generated by the 2020 event , far lower than the 17.3% predicted by the US market research company , and the overall results were somewhat lackluster compared with previous years.

Compared with previous years, Amazon did not promote the PD event as much this year. There were no slogans such as "the largest shopping event in Amazon's history" or active exposure of how consumers flocked to the website to buy heavily discounted products.

The sellers’ supply chain issues may be one of the main reasons for the poor performance of PD. Many sellers said they chose to reduce PD discounts this year because they were worried that they might sell out.

Although Amazon declined to provide more details about sellers' sales during this year's PD event, it said that third-party sellers' PD sales grew for the second consecutive year this year, and the growth even exceeded that of Amazon's own stores.

However, while a large number of sellers in the circle of friends were wailing and crying about receiving zero orders, Amazon announced that sellers had made a net profit of $1.9 billion from the PD promotion. Now that the 2021 PD promotion has ended, I wonder if sellers will miss the PD promotions of previous years, after all, that was their lost youth.
