During the epidemic, Americans prefer outdoor sports?

Due to the impact of the epidemic, people's outdoor activities have decreased, and indoor home products have also received attention. However, a recent survey shows that outdoor sports products are also likely to be popular.

The survey was commissioned by health and fitness app company Verv and conducted by OnePoll. The survey shows that during the epidemic, nearly three-fifths of Americans have changed from "indoor people" to "outdoor people."

The survey interviewed 2,000 people aged 21 and above. The final results showed that since last year, the outdoor health time of "indoor people" has increased by 22 minutes per week. As for the reason for choosing outdoor activities, 67% of the respondents said it was to stay away from indoor people.

With summer approaching, this trend shows no signs of slowing down, as people plan to increase their outdoor time by four hours per week as the weather warms up. So, is it possible that sales of related outdoor sports products will see an increase ?

An exclusive survey conducted by the International Casual Furniture Association shows that 58% of American consumers plan to buy at least one new piece of furniture or accessories for their outdoor living space this year. As summer approaches, the search volume for some outdoor products on Google has also soared, such as barbecue grills (4,500%), small light strings (450%), and patio umbrellas. In the field of outdoor sports, different products are also popular to different degrees.

According to more detailed survey results from OnePoll, 75% of men are more willing to embrace outdoor activities, while among women, the figure is only 51%, and most of the newly emerged "outdoor people" are between the ages of 25 and 40 (38%).

The popularity of outdoor sports is also reflected in the respondents’ choice of exercise methods: respondents prefer walking (51%), running (47%) and cycling (42%) over activities that can be done indoors, such as yoga (37%) and Pilates (26%).

When it comes to tracking activity, nearly 40% of respondents rely on mobile apps and 46% rely on smartwatches. Respondents also rely more on smartwatches than on their phones.

This information means that men's outdoor sports products, bicycles, smart watches and other products are likely to be more popular.

As the epidemic in the United States is gradually brought under control and cities are reopened, the sales of outdoor products may see another surge. Sellers can prepare as early as possible based on market conditions.
