As one of the busiest container terminals in the world, Yantian Port finally announced the good news of its imminent recovery more than 20 days after the "5.21" epidemic outbreak!
Yantian Port is expected to be fully restored by the end of June
At present, the overall operating capacity of Yantian Port has recovered to about 70% of the normal period, and the yard density has dropped significantly to 70%, recovering to a better level. From 0:00 on June 15, Yantian International will continue to accept ETA-7-day export heavy containers into the gate, and at the same time increase the number of trailers scheduled to enter the gate to 8,000 per day, and will gradually increase in the future. It is reported that it is preliminarily estimated that the goal of fully resuming production can be basically achieved by the end of June.
However, a freight forwarder revealed that although Yantian Port has started operation, the queue is running slowly due to excessive accumulation caused by the epidemic. But no matter what, Yantian Port is gradually and orderly recovering overall.
Another port is congested
The Port of Yantian has recovered, but the Port of Liverpool, which serves as a springboard for North American companies to develop their business in the European market and is also the second largest trading port in the UK, has experienced serious congestion again. Work that used to take two hours now takes nearly a day!
Last year, the Port of Liverpool in the UK experienced serious congestion, and this year the port was congested again, and the port's feasibility continued to decline.
It is reported that the congestion was caused by Liverpool receiving too many cargo ships, exceeding its own processing capacity, and coupled with a shortage of manpower and restricted access to the port, which led to a serious slowdown in the flow of cargo.
As processing capacity decreases and staff shortages occur, trailer booking becomes increasingly difficult! More and more trucking companies are unable to obtain trailer bookings.
According to a local freight company, the workload that used to take 2 hours now takes nearly a day to complete. It also takes a whole day to transport seven containers with three trucks, so an extra 1,500 pounds of unnecessary costs are incurred each week.
One freight company complained: "You have to book three days in advance, and even then you may not get it!", so many freight companies outside the Liverpool area refused to go there.
This is a problem for freight forwarders at the Port of Liverpool! Due to low productivity and increased costs, they need to bear additional terminal rents and detention fees caused by the slow flow of goods.
The traditional shipping peak season coupled with the epidemic has caused congestion in many ports in both Europe and North America. Sellers and freight forwarders also need to pay attention to logistics conditions and prepare response plans! port Yantian Port Freight Forwarding |
