FedEx urgently notified more than 1,400 major customers on Friday afternoon, June 11 (US time) that their truck services would be suspended, effective immediately, with no clear resumption time. This temporary notification of the flow restriction by FedEx is extremely unusual, and is also considered by the industry as an important signal of further inversion of the supply and demand relationship in the US LTL transportation market.

 

Amazon waives FBA liquidation fees in some European countries

 

Amazon UK announced that it will waive FBA liquidation fees for inventory in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, France, Spain and Italy . The free trial will end on September 7, 2021, Central European Time.

 

ONE announces 52 voyages will suspend calls at Yantian and Shekou ports

 

Recently, after ONE announced on June 5 that some voyages would be suspended from calling at ports in South China, it added 25 more voyages, totaling 52 voyages that would be suspended from calling at multiple ports in South China, and announced alternative plans. In addition, ONE decided to impose a congestion surcharge of US$1,000 on each container. If the port of destination (COD) is changed and the incoming refrigerated containers are unloaded from Yantian to other alternative ports, the CGD and COD management fees can be waived. This measure will take effect immediately for all refrigerated container cargoes arriving at Yantian Port from June 10, 2021, and for regulated trade, the effective date is July 11, 2021.

It is reported that the Chinese cross-border e-commerce platform shein has recently been complained by several clothing and apparel brands in the United States, and has been accused of intellectual property infringement. Among them, AirWair International, the manufacturer of "Dr Martens" brand footwear products, accused the platform of selling counterfeit goods. It is reported that in the complaint submitted to a court in California, AirWave accused Shein and its sister platform Romwe of not only selling counterfeit products, but also using photos of real Dr Martens genuine products to mislead consumers and lure them into buying fakes. But Shein denied the above allegations .

 

EU launches $1 trillion bond sale

 

The European Union is testing investor appetite for nearly $1 trillion in bonds over five years as it seeks to raise funds to help its economy recover from the pandemic. The bloc has begun registering demand for a 10-year bond as part of its Next Generation EU plan. ECB President Laszlo said the stimulus package would "change Europe's future." The bond could be priced on Tuesday. Commerzbank strategists expect the offering to be more than 10 billion euros ($12 billion).

  

South Korean IT giant Kakao plans to acquire e-commerce subsidiary Kakaocommerce

 

Industry sources said that Kakaocommerce will hold a board meeting next week to review the merger with Kakao. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year. It is understood that last week, there were media reports that Kakao will officially enter the e-commerce market from the second half of the year with open strategies such as "zero commission" and "self-built mall". There are also reports that Kakao is contacting some manufacturers and is preparing to officially launch the e-commerce platform Kakao Store next month.

 

Shopify launches Shop Pay installments in the US

 

According to foreign media reports, Shopify recently launched Shop Pay installments in the United States, a buy now, pay later feature designed specifically for Shopify merchants . This feature is provided by Affirm in the United States and is now available to hundreds of thousands of American merchants.

 

Shop Pay’s buy now, pay later feature will further boost sales. Research shows that merchants who trial Shop Pay see an average 50% higher order value than merchants using other payment methods. Additionally, merchants see 28% fewer abandoned shopping carts after using Shop Pay.
