The latest advertising forecast report from IMARC Group states that by 2024, the global advertising market is expected to be worth $769.9 billion . During the forecast period, the compound annual growth rate ( CAGR) is expected to be 6.3%.


Online advertising, which is targeted, flexible and measurable, is growing rapidly. According to eMarketer, global digital advertising spending is expected to reach US$389.29 billion by 2021 , accounting for 56.1% of total media advertising spending .


 

Another data from eMarketer predicts that by 2021, the share of digital ad spending will account for 51.3% of total US ad spending .


Among them, social media is one of the main channels for online advertising . According to Small Business Trends , 73% of small businesses use social media for marketing; CMO survey reports show that companies spend 13% of their marketing budget on social media.


There are approximately 3.96 billion social media users worldwide . Therefore, it is no surprise that more and more businesses are increasing their social media advertising budgets. By 2025, global social media advertising spending is expected to reach $138.412 billion.


Data shows that more and more users are accessing social media through mobile devices . eMarkter predicts that by 2021, 54.2% of social network users in the United States will only use mobile devices.

 

This has also led marketers to adjust their advertising strategies and increase mobile advertising budgets. According to PubMatic data, global mobile advertising will exceed $330.4 billion in 2020 ; eMarketer predicts that US mobile advertising spending is expected to reach $123.59 billion in 2021 .


Video advertising has also seen significant growth during the pandemic, with Limelight Network’s latest State of Online Video showing that viewers around the world spend an average of 7 hours and 55 minutes per week watching video content .


eMarketer predicts that digital video viewers in the United States will reach 244.7 million by 2021, and data from Grand View Research shows that global digital video advertising will reach $292.4 billion by 2027.


In summary, sellers can check for omissions and gaps based on the advertising statistics of the above channels and arrange their advertising budget expenditures reasonably.
