eBay Announcement: Important Updates to SpeedPAK Logistics Management Policy

eBay Announcement: Important Updates to SpeedPAK Logistics Management Policy

On March 25, eBay China’s official website released an “Important Update on the SpeedPAK Logistics Management Policy.” The update stated that in order to further improve the overall logistics level of the eBay platform and improve the experience of overseas buyers, eBay will update the SpeedPAK logistics management policy based on the original logistics requirements.

For sellers who sell direct mail products to the United States, there will no longer be a distinction between price ranges. All direct mail transactions from mainland China to the United States will be included in the SpeedPAK logistics management policy assessment scope. This adjustment will take effect from May 1, 2021 and will apply to all eBay sites. The new assessment requirements after the policy adjustment are as follows:

Liquids, powders and other goods that Orange Union cannot transport will not be included in the assessment of SpeedPAK logistics management policy (both the numerator and denominator are removed). If in the actual assessment, the seller's account is still warned or restricted due to Orange Union's untransportable products being assessed by the policy, the seller can submit a relevant appeal through the Seller Center or Account Manager/Customer Service. For the products that have passed the above appeal review, SpeedPAK logistics management policy will no longer be assessed.

In fact, for a long time, Orange Union’s logistics service has been a point of complaint among eBay sellers. According to the announcement released on eBay China’s official website, eBay has also been adjusting its logistics services.

Just on March 24, eBay also released a "2021 SpeedPAK Collection Network (Related Self-Delivery Site Personnel Changes & Address Changes Information) Adjustment Notice".

The "Notice" shows that due to changes in operational business at the collection end, it is planned to synchronize system updates with personnel changes at relevant self-delivery sites on March 30, 2021. This adjustment involves adjustments and updates to three suppliers, 33 cities and 44 sites, and does not involve adjustments to the collection scope.

With the rapid development of cross-border e-commerce in 2020, the logistics industry has also ushered in unprecedented challenges. There are not only congestion and container backlogs in major ports, but sometimes there are some "emergencies", such as the ultra-large container ship "Ever Given" of Evergreen Marine in Taiwan, China, which accidentally ran aground when turning in the Suez Canal in Egypt, an international shipping artery, two days ago, resulting in serious "traffic jams" in both directions of the Suez Canal.

Even so, the platform will not relax its assessment of logistics. eBay has even imposed strict restrictions on logistics service providers and suppliers, causing many sellers to worry about this - Orange Union's shipping costs are really not cheap, and if they want to make money, they can only increase the price, but in this way, the order volume will be affected, which is really uncomfortable.

But since we are in this business, this kind of problem is naturally unavoidable. Sellers can only connect with as many overseas warehouse service providers as possible, make multiple preparations, and try their best to solve the problem.
