Kitchen Warehouse improves page loading speed and increases sales by 150%

As the pandemic spread across the globe, global internet traffic grew exponentially, and most businesses shifted online, with online retail sales soaring during this period . Like many other businesses, Kitchen Warehouse in Australia had to close its physical stores and shift online.

Kitchen Warehouse is Australia's leading kitchenware specialist with 13 large stores across Australia and an international online store, mainly providing kitchenware, cookware, knives, bakeware, cutlery, small kitchen appliances and more.

Kitchen Warehouse has reported a 150 per cent year-on-year increase in online sales , which it says has been helped by faster website loading times and better security.

Kitchen Warehouse has leveraged the web and cloud security company’s content delivery network ( CDN) services to make its website run nearly 80% faster by reducing page loading times to just three seconds, resulting in a significant increase in user engagement and sales conversion rates for the company’s online orders .

Kitchen Warehouse's online business now accounts for about 50 per cent of total revenue, according to technology consultant Luke Matthews, and has generated more revenue every month since the pandemic than during Christmas and Black Friday in previous years.

And, Luke Matthews said: We have seen unprecedented monthly traffic, more than 6 million page views, and online sales have increased by 150% year-on-year. If it weren’t for the increased speed of the website and the strengthening of network security , our e-commerce platform would not be able to withstand the sudden influx of traffic .

In addition, according to the latest research by Deloitte and Google, if the website speed is improved by just 0.1 second, consumers will spend 10% more time on it and user engagement on product pages will increase by about 8%.

The increase in Kitchen Warehouse's sales shows that Australia's kitchenware market is booming, but it is worth noting that for online sales companies, the page loading speed largely affects consumers' shopping decisions . Therefore, while paying attention to the market, merchants should also improve the loading speed when consumers visit the page.
