Amazon's new feature is launched, sellers' delivery time is extended?

Amazon UK has released the latest announcement, announcing the launch of a new feature "Holiday Settings" for self-delivery sellers. Statutory holidays are not counted as working days and are not included in the shipping and delivery time. The following is the original announcement:

The announcement pointed out that if there is a statutory holiday between the shipping and delivery dates, then it can be postponed to the next working day. For example, if it is in China, there are 7 days of National Day holiday. The goods that should have been shipped on October 1st can be postponed to October 8th after the official work day because it is caught up with the holiday. There is no need to ship during the holiday.

Then some sellers say, "I like to work overtime and I also want to work on holidays." Sellers can adjust through holiday settings, changing holidays to working days, and continue normal operations and order delivery. Sellers can set their own working hours according to their own needs.

As soon as the announcement came out, some sellers began to worry, "This poses another hidden danger. Extended delivery time means that the return rate may increase, so it is better to ship as soon as possible if possible."

But some sellers said that this is not a problem at all. "If you are confident in the product, you don't have to worry about returns. Just ship it as normal. It's just that the official delivery standard time for us sellers has been extended, which is still beneficial to sellers to a certain extent."

It’s OK in the off-season, but the benefits of this feature may be shown during the peak season. There are usually promotions during major holidays, ushering in a wave of sales peaks, and logistics may be delayed. For example, during the holiday shopping season at the end of the year, the number of orders surges. Normally, the goods can be delivered to the buyer in one or two working days, but during the peak season, it may be delayed by a week. At this time, even if the seller’s delivery time is long, it is within the regulations, and there is one less worry during the holiday peak season.

Logistics is an important criterion in transactions. In addition to the most fundamental product quality issue, the speed of delivery has always been a key factor in buyers' purchase decisions. No matter how the policy changes, a higher delivery speed is definitely one of the advantages of sellers. Therefore, unless there are special circumstances, it is important to deliver the product to the customer as soon as possible.
