According to a local survey, 49% of Indian consumers said that online websites and apps became their preferred shopping method in the past 12 months.
Consumers believe that the primary reason for using e-commerce is safety and convenience during the epidemic . They will use large e-commerce platforms , small vertical websites or local e-commerce websites to purchase groceries and daily necessities . 69% of people have purchased groceries and basic supplies online.
Consumers report that returns and refund processing and customer service capabilities on e-commerce sites and apps have improved over the past 12 months.
Consumers say free shipping on orders and more efficient return and refund processes make them more comfortable shopping on e-commerce sites.
LocalCircles conducted a study and received over 130,000 responses from over 42,000 unique consumers across 358 districts in India, of which 48% of the participants were from Tier-I regions, 31% from Tier-II regions, and 21% from Tier-III, Tier-IV and rural areas.
In the survey, 49% of consumers said they preferred "e-commerce websites and apps" to shop in the past 12 months, 18% said they "called a local retail store and had it delivered to their home," 31% said they "went to a shopping mall or store," and only 2% couldn't say.
The survey results show that "safe or contactless delivery" is the main reason why consumers trust e-commerce websites in the past 12 months.
Although consumers trust e-commerce platforms for security reasons, when asked why they continued to use e-commerce sites in the past 12 months, the main reasons were "personal safety" and "convenience", followed by "ease of return or refund" and "better value".
