Big news! The Tokyo Olympics has basically been confirmed to be held behind closed doors

Japanese media revealed that Japan will set strict number limits on government delegations from various countries and regions visiting Japan during the Olympics, requiring all parties to limit the number of foreign heads of state or government and their entourage to less than 12 people, and ministerial officials and their entourage to less than 5 people.

The Japanese government will ban overseas fans from entering the country due to concerns about a rise in infections.

Since last week, relevant personnel from the Japanese government and the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee have stated that it has been basically confirmed that the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics will not accept ordinary spectators from overseas , and the final decision will be made before the start of the torch relay on the 25th of this month .

Tokyo Olympic organizers said the number of torch relays will be reduced and spectators will be banned from attending the Tokyo Olympic torch relay as the countdown to the delayed Olympics officially begins.

"The grand launch ceremony and the first leg of the Fukushima Torch Relay will not be open to the public , with celebrations being broadcast live online, " organizers said in a statement .

Tokyo 2020 said : "In response to the pandemic , the number of participants traveling from Tokyo is being significantly reduced , and the number of performers at the ceremony has also been reduced . 3,000 spectators are expected to attend the launch ceremony of the relay . "

The Olympic flame has remained in Japan since the March 2020 Games were postponed, and members of the Japanese women's rugby team will use the Olympic flame to light the torch as it travels around the country before arriving in Tokyo for the opening ceremony of the Olympics .

As long as the audience abides by strict epidemic prevention measures and wears masks, they can queue on the road , but to avoid crowds, they can only participate in some relay activities not far from home.

Olympic organisers said: "If there is a risk of overcrowding, the individual relay events will be suspended. "

In addition, the organizing committee announced these days that the two skateboarding and shooting test events originally scheduled for late April will be held in May.
