Catching up with Amazon! Yahoo Japan and Yamato Transport renew logistics and distribution cooperation

Recently, Yahoo! J APAN ( Z Holdings ) and Yamato Transport ( Yamato Transport , Japan ) signed a basic agreement for a business alliance , and Yahoo Japan and Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. will renew the "delivery service" of "Yahoo! Shopping" and "PayPay Mall".

Starting from April 1, a " national flat delivery fee for sellers " will be provided based on the size of the goods .

Starting from June this year , Yamato Group's warehouses will serve branch stores of "Yahoo! Shopping" and "PayPay Mall", using Yamato Group's facilities to provide a "full range of services" from product orders to storage and shipment , as well as "picking and delivery services" for some business .

Additionally, updates to its full parcel service and nationwide flat-rate delivery by size were announced.

Since the goods can be shipped smoothly from the warehouse of Yamato Group , the sellers can become the "excellent delivery" objects stipulated by "Yahoo Shopping" and "PayPay Mall". It is reported that since the target products are marked as " excellent delivery" in the search result screen , the selected sellers are expected to increase the selection rate of consumers for the store.

In today's Japanese e-commerce market, Rakuten and Yahoo have always lagged behind in logistics . It is undeniable that even among Amazon sites around the world , Amazon Japan is still at the forefront of home delivery.

With the development of the times, the EC conversion rate in the Japanese retail market has been increasing , and the spread of the epidemic has accelerated this trend. Therefore , it has become an urgent task for Japan 's e-commerce giants to catch up with and surpass Amazon in logistics in the short term .

However, since it takes time to build a logistics system on their own , Yahoo renewed its contract with Yamato Transport and Rakuten chose to form an alliance with Japan Post .

Compared with Amazon, which leads with its own logistics system, Rakuten and Yahoo hope to build brand standards for logistics services in a short period of time through alliances with large express delivery companies, while catching up with Amazon's logistics level. This also means that the competition among Japan's three major e-commerce giants in the field of logistics has entered a new stage.
