Mobile app downloads exceeded 60 million
App Annie calculated Trendyol's global downloads based on app downloads from the Apple Store and Google Play, and the results showed that Trendyol's mobile application has been downloaded more than 60 million times to date, making it the only Turkish company to make the top ten of the list.
Mobile applications have become a major focus for Trendyol. Data shows that 93% of Trendyol's customers visit through mobile applications, and 85% of customers shop through mobile applications.
The importance of mobile shopping has become increasingly evident in Turkey. According to data from GittiGidiyor, another Turkish e-commerce platform, GittiGidiyor's mobile sales increased by 50% year-on-year in 2020 , and mobile sales accounted for 64% of the platform's total sales.
According to the "We Are Social Digital 2021" report previously released by We Are Social, 97% of Internet users in Türkiye own smartphones and they spend an average of 8 hours a day online.
Active buyers exceed 20 million
A research report released earlier this year by the Policy Analysis Laboratory (PAL) showed that 19.3 million people made at least one purchase on Trendyol in 2020. In the last quarter of last year, Trendyol sent out an average of 1.1 million packages per day. As of now, Trendyol has more than 20 million active buyers.
In terms of the number of sellers, according to report data, a total of 98,000 companies and 1.1 million individual sellers sold 347 million products through Trendyol in 2020. According to Demet Mutlu, CEO and founder of Trendyol, 90% of sellers saw sales increase to varying degrees last year.
Fighting for the $25.6 billion Turkish e-commerce market
Trendyol was founded in Turkey in 2010 and has been in business for 11 years. The platform's product categories include clothing, groceries, beauty and personal care, and electronic products.
After years of hard work and with the support of Alibaba and other capitals, Trendyol has become a well-known e-commerce platform in Turkey. The company claims that three-quarters of female online shoppers in Turkey have made purchases on Trendyol.
Of course, Trendyol is not the only dominant player in Türkiye. Its biggest competitor should be GittiGidiyor, an e-commerce platform under eBay.
GittiGidiyor has more experience in e-commerce, having emerged in the Turkish e-commerce market in 2001. Up to now, GittiGidiyor has 33 million active buyers, while the number of sellers is less than one-tenth of Trendyol.
According to Statista data, Turkey's e-commerce market is expected to reach $25.673 billion in 2025 , with fashion being the largest market segment, which is also the category that Trendyol excels in. In order to gain a foothold in the Turkish e-commerce market, Trendyol currently has nearly 930 engineers engaged in technology research and development. middle East Türkiye E-commerce Trendyol |
