The Double 11 shopping festival in China has just ended, and many sellers have achieved satisfactory sales results. Influenced by the domestic market, Southeast Asia also celebrated the Double 11 shopping festival and also achieved impressive results.
According to Lazada data, the number of new users during the 2021 Double 11 Shopping Festival increased by 120% compared to the same period last year, and the amount of goods successfully sold increased by 200%. The number of sellers with revenue exceeding 100,000 baht increased by 300%.
Influenced by the trend of returning to the office, Lazada said that women's fashion, skin care and personal care products became the best-selling items on the platform during Double Eleven.
Shopee also said that in the first five minutes of Singles Day, 11 million items were sold in the region. The midnight shopping peak saw a 5.5-fold increase in visits in the first two hours. In Thailand, many consumers waited until Singles Day to buy personal and family necessities to maximize savings.
On Shopee, consumers bought the most mobile accessories and kitchen products. Thai consumers also took advantage of the Singles’ Day shopping spree to buy paper towels, home fragrances and other items, with 180,000 units sold within an hour of the start of the sale. Skin care products also saw impressive sales, with sales exceeding 30,000 units.
On JD Central, in the first two hours of Singles’ Day, order sales on the platform increased by 227% year-on-year, setting a record. Among them, the fastest growing categories were maternal and child products and food and beverages.
Several major e-commerce platforms in Thailand, including Lazada, Shopee and JD Central, have said that they have seen a significant increase in transaction volume during this year's Double Eleven Shopping Festival. Coupled with the increasing number of Internet users in Thailand, the sales volume of the shopping festival was further boosted.
The "e-Conomy SEA 2021" report jointly released by Google, Temasek and Bain & Company said that since the pandemic in 2020, Thailand has added 9 million new digital users in the first half of this year, of which 67% are from non-capital areas.
According to data from the Thai E-Commerce Association, out of Thailand's 59 million Internet users, 42 million have become online shoppers.
The growing number of online shopping users has also led to a steady increase in sales during shopping festivals such as Double 11. Holding various shopping festivals not only increases brand sales, but also increases exposure for retailers, achieving higher business growth. During this year's Double 11 promotion, small sellers selling beauty and personal care products also achieved sales of 3.5 million baht in the first two hours. Thailand Double Eleven |
