Shopee, Lazada sign memorandum of understanding with Philippine companies to combat online counterfeit products

Brands and industry groups that signed the partnership include Unilever Philippines, GlaxoSmithKline Philippines, Globe Telecom, Castrol Ltd., the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, Consumer Healthcare of the Philippines, and Retailers Association of the Philippines, among others.
The memorandum of understanding outlines a code of conduct for addressing the sale of counterfeit and pirated goods online, with the platform promising that its process for verifying complaints will not be "unreasonably or unduly delayed" and that ads, posts or products will be removed in a timely manner. When brand owners discover that their intellectual property rights have been infringed, they will be able to enter a "notice and takedown" procedure.
