TikTok live streaming is gaining popularity, but I don’t know if it’s a real trend or…

Recently, a girl who live-streamed and sold goods on the TikTok platform became popular. It is reported that the girl entered the cross-border e-commerce industry in August this year and did live-streaming and selling goods in English. In the video, the girl is introducing products to foreign customers in fluent English, which has attracted praise from many netizens.

In recent years, cross-border live streaming has become more and more popular. Especially this year, major e-commerce platforms have increased their investment in cross-border e-commerce, and the domestic live streaming sales model has also been introduced into cross-border e-commerce, including Amazon, Wayfair, AliExpress, Shopee, Lazada and other cross-border e-commerce platforms, which have also launched live streaming service sections. In addition, foreign social media platforms have also launched live streaming business sections, including Tik Tok , Facebook , Instagram , Pinterest, YouTube, etc.

However, despite the popularity of live streaming, many sellers are still on the sidelines. According to the editor, there are three main reasons:

On the one hand, there is the issue of funds. Since the beginning of this year, many sellers have reported that the profits of cross-border e-commerce are not as good as before. The soaring logistics costs, platform policies, and advertising costs have greatly reduced product profits. In addition, the cost of cross-border live streaming is relatively high, which undoubtedly adds another cost.

On the other hand, there is skepticism about the results of live streaming sales. Many sellers believe that the profit model of live streaming sales is still under discussion. According to sellers who have tried live streaming sales, the number of fans on social media platforms is too small, and the product conversion rate is extremely low. The anchor with hundreds of thousands of fans only sold one order!

Third, some small and medium-sized sellers lack strong supply chain support. Live streaming sales require a strong and stable supply chain to continuously supply products once the product becomes popular.

Some sellers are optimistic about live streaming sales. They believe that if they have extra funds, they can make arrangements in advance, and if they plan to set up an independent website later, this will be a good channel for attracting traffic.

In short, whether it is live streaming sales through e-commerce platforms or social media, sellers need to have a full understanding of live streaming sales. It is obviously not enough to simply copy the domestic live streaming sales model. It is also necessary to consider the consumption habits, customs, religious beliefs, etc. of foreign consumers.
