Sellers, please note! There are new changes in Amazon registration: no time slots for video verification

Amazon registration has new changes : video verification or Amazon office

According to sellers, there have been new changes in registering new accounts on Amazon US, and you can choose from three verification methods:

During the identity verification process, after the seller submits the legal identity information, company name, business license and other information, he/she needs to select an available option to contact Amazon employees to complete the verification. The seller’s location may only support some verification methods.

There are currently three verification methods available, with video verification being the first:

1. Live video call. Sellers can join a video call at any location at a selected date and time to complete identity verification. Amazon may also send a postcard containing a one-time password to the seller's registered address to verify the address.

2. Meet at a designated location for verification at Amazon . You can get the verification results within two hours after participating in the on-site verification:

Sellers can go to the designated location of Amazon and meet with a customer service specialist to complete the verification. The address is Shenzhen Ping An Financial Center. Amazon may also send a postcard containing a one-time password to the seller’s registered address for address verification.

3. Verification is carried out at the seller's company . Amazon will send a customer service specialist to the seller's company. However, some sellers' locations do not support this method.

After the new video verification method was added, all sellers who registered new accounts were very worried. It is understood that video verification is required to register a new Amazon account. In addition to the US site, this option also appears on the European and Japanese sites.

Too many people? No time slot for video verification

Amazon’s recent wave of video verification has caused a lot of trouble for sellers.

Since this wave of verification came out, many problems have emerged one after another, such as: Are there phishing emails sent by service providers in the video verification emails? Does the link under the investment manager not require video verification? In addition, for video verification, as long as the legal person can show up, does the company's registered address and billing address not matter?

Some of these questions have been answered in previous articles on En.com: "Video verification is here! All sales will be suspended if no action is taken within 7 days, and some sellers have been blocked" and "All 90 accounts of the seller are dead! This is how to do video verification."

Now, just as sellers are worried about their accounts being blocked and not knowing whether Amazon will return the balances, there are new changes in video verification.

According to feedback from a seller, when he conducted video verification for his newly registered account, he found that there was only one appointment time slot left.

Another seller also said that when he made an appointment before, he could only choose the 16th. What's more serious is that a seller recently reported that since the last step of registration, the appointment video verification, the meeting has been unavailable and the time cannot be selected.

In this regard, many sellers have speculated that this situation is because there are too many sellers who need video verification recently, and Amazon is too busy to handle it, so it can only reduce the time period.

If this speculation comes true, sellers who need video verification will not only have to worry about the information, but sellers who now have real information will also have to spend some time to make an appointment. Especially those sellers who have dozens of accounts to verify but only have two or three days left to verify should pay special attention.

Amazon warns sellers about increasing phishing emails

Previously, regarding video verification emails, some sellers suspected that some of them were phishing emails sent by unscrupulous merchants.

This suspicion is not without reason. Recently, Amazon issued a warning to sellers regarding phishing emails. The announcement is as follows:

The announcement shows that recently, Amazon has found that there are more and more fraudulent emails that are spread to collect private information of customers and sellers. Such emails (called "phishing" or "spoofing" emails) usually ask sellers to update personal, financial or other account data. The so-called notification may also contain another action request (for example, "You have received customer reviews, please log in").

Phishing is an attempt to steal confidential information from sellers , such as your username, password, or one-time password, through email or other direct communication. Fraudsters can forge sender information to trick you into believing the email is from Amazon while directing you to another website designed to steal your account information.

Amazon said it has zero tolerance for such behavior and reminded sellers that Amazon will never ask sellers to update payment information through a link in an email. Instead, it provides instructions on how to verify the seller's account information (including payment method) through the corresponding Amazon website. Sellers can check the URL before entering the information to ensure that the URL is legitimate.

The announcement also reminds sellers that they can identify phishing emails by the following characteristics :

1. Find the sender. The email may have "Amazon" as the sender, but if you click on the sender, you can view the details and see the full email address.

2. Phishing emails often contain spelling or grammatical errors. This is a clear sign of fraud.

3. Do not click directly on any link in the email, but enter the URL in your browser . Double-check the URL of the web page. Often, fake websites will contain some spelling errors that may not be noticeable in the URL (for example, "amazon").

4. Amazon will never send an email asking sellers to confirm your data and enter your password.

5. Find your own email address. Amazon sends all information exclusively to the email address stored in your seller account.

Finally, Amazon also emphasized that for phishing emails, if sellers have any questions, they can go directly to the Seller Center to confirm the legitimacy of the information and send any suspicious emails received to [email protected]. If possible, attach the suspicious original email.
