Australian home fragrance retailer Dusk Group ( DSK) has announced strong first-half results, reporting improved online sales and gross margins.
The products provided by DSK include scented candles, air purifiers, essential oils, perfumes and other home aromatherapy products.
DSK online sales up 120%
The candle retailer said e-commerce had driven its profit growth, with online sales up 120 per cent in the six months to December 31 compared with the same period last year.
All in all, DSK's sales revenue for the first half of FY21 was just under $91 million, up 55% year-over-year. Gross profit increased 63% to $61.6 million in the first half.
Meanwhile, DSK's strong sales performance brought the company higher profits, which nearly tripled to $19.8 million during the same period .
Dusk Group principal Peter King attributed the strong performance to teamwork as his company achieved 15 consecutive quarters of year-on-year sales and gross margin growth.
"This achievement demonstrates the team spirit that DSK has at its disposal, despite the closure of 20 Metro stores in Melbourne," he said.
DSK upgrades its website
Due to the nationwide and Melbourne lockdowns, DSK 's online sales have increased. Currently, DSK's online sales now account for 8.3% of the company's total sales. For DSK, there is still a lot of room for improvement in its online sales.
DSK said it has already started work on its web platform, which will go live in April.
It is reported that this time, DSK's website upgrade will provide consumers with a faster, more flexible and more attractive website, and will provide and meet multiple payment options, including subscriptions, credit cards and other payment methods.
In addition, Peter King also said: "DSK will continue to focus on our customers and continue to develop and provide differentiated brand products, providing our customers with value for money and affordable everyday luxury goods . "
According to ReportLinker data, the global scented candle market is expected to reach US$645.7 million by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 11.8% during the forecast period . DSK's strong performance in 2020 shows that Australian consumers are turning to online shopping, and home fragrance products are popular in Australia.
Therefore, based on this development trend, Australia may be a very potential market for retailers of home fragrances. Dusk Group Australia perfume Home Fragrance |
