Effective next month! Google will update its advertising policy, sellers should avoid these pitfalls

If sellers want to place advertisements on the Google series, it is necessary to pay more attention to the updates and changes of advertising policies.


Recently, Google announced that it will update two major advertising policies. Sellers, come and see which minefields should not be touched!


First, Google will update its advertising policies for ads placed on content made for children on YouTube .


 

As can be seen from the above figure, from March 16, the following types of advertising will be restricted on content produced for children:


Incitement to buy :

Promotions or content that encourages children to purchase products or services or urges parents or others to make purchases.


Misleading and Deceptive Claims :

Paid ads cannot mislead children or make any deceptive or unsubstantiated claims, and all statements and claims must be substantiated in the video itself.

Paid advertising cannot imply that the product will improve your social status.

Paid ads cannot contain features or calls to action that don't work or don't complete the desired action.


In addition, Google also stated that it will update its adult advertising policy, and scoped advertising will be restricted starting March 29, 2021 .


That is to say, ads in these content categories are still allowed to run, but policy restrictions will affect the performance of the campaigns.


In the updated sexually explicit content policy, ads that contain or promote sexually explicit content will be classified as either strictly restricted or moderately restricted, depending on the circumstances .

In the moderately restricted content category, live broadcasts, online chats, and role-playing games with sexual overtones will be restricted to “sexual entertainment”; parties with sexually suggestive elements and themes will be restricted to “sexually suggestive elements and themes.”


Google said that for accounts that violate this policy , the system will issue a warning at least 7 days before the ad account is suspended .
